Save The Animals Rescue Team II (S.T.A.R.T. II) is dedicated to saving homeless dogs and cats in New Jersey. Twice a week volunteers visit the local shelter and “pull” animals that would otherwise be euthanized. These animals are provided with medical care, clean living conditions, exercise, and the time needed to find their furever home.
Take Winston for example… This adoptable muffin, with his pleading puppy-eyes, could melt any heart! He gets along well with other cats – and is eagerly awaiting his furever family. (Can you help Winston find a home? Learn more about him here.)
Congrats to S.T.A.R.T II – Our ResQpartner of the Week!
Since inception, S.T.A.R.T II has rescued and placed over 7,000 dogs and cats. We are so happy to name them our ResQparnter of the week! With this recognition, if 500 people hit their weekly walking goal by Sunday January 17th at 11:59pm EST, KONG will distribute $500 worth of toys to the S.T.A.R.T. II animals currently awaiting their furever home.
*You will need the most recent version of ResQwalk to access the goals feature – so don’t forget to update! Set up your weekly walking goal by going into ‘My Profile’ and entering the distance goal you’d like to achieve. There is no minimum or maximum distance. Just pick a distance that works for you!*
Why toys make a HUGE difference for animals in shelters
Shelters are generally loud, crowded, and often stressful places. Simply providing an animal with a toy or chew item can make a huge impact. Best said by our friends at Rock & Rawhide,
“If a dog is chewing, it’s not barking! If a cat is playing, it’s not meowing! Less noise = less stress. In turn, dogs and cats can pass their evaluations at shelters, and show more of their personality, making them more adoptable.”
We love this, and we love KONG for helping make the lives of homeless animals (and animals everywhere) better! ResQwalk this week and help provide toys to the animals at S.T.A.R.T II.
